'You may be able to help me with something, (your name). By the advice of Mithrandir, Master Elrond agreed to send several books detailing the histories of the Free Peoples from the library of Imladris to the towns of Men in the Bree-land, to inspire among the people there a sense of unity against the darkness. In this way, Mithrandir argued, free folk would have access to lore of the various peoples and could better understand their neighbours. A waggon-driver of good character, Harry Wheelwright, was chosen to bear the books on their journey into Bree-land and back to Imladris after some time was given for their circulation.

'It would seem that though Master Elrond's faith in the driver was not misplaced, the team of horses selected to pull the waggon was not of similar quality. On the return journey to Imladris, the horses were crazed by the scent of some beast, and the waggon was pulled off the road. Much to our disappointment and Harry's shame, the books were lost. If you would speak to Harry and set about collecting the lost tomes, I would gratefully allow you access to the superior study of Imladris, the finest place that remains between the Sea and the Mountains for scholarly pursuits.

'You will find Harry at the stables of Imladris.'
